SPECIAL LIMITED PRESSING. Caitlin Cary has been a member of NC-based Whiskeytown since its founding in 1994. With Whiskeytown, Cary has sung and fiddled on three records (along with several EP's, singles, etc.) and has toured extensively in the US and in Europe, and has appeared on Austin City Limits, Sessions on W. 54th, World Cafe, the Vin Skelsa show, and Mountain Stage. Her backing vocals and duets with Ryan Adams have drawn comparisons to Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, and the songs they write together hearken back to the classic country heartbreak duets of the 50's and 60's. During Whiskeytown's recent hiatus, Cary has been at work on a solo recording produced by Carolina music legend Chris Stamey . The record will include many of Cary's own songs and a few choice covers, and is slated for release in early 2001. In August, Yep Roc Records will release Cary's debut solo outing, Waltzie, a five song EP comprised of early-session recordings (for the upcoming album) as well as some special moments.
