For their third album, Walking In A Straight Line, Chapel Hill's The Mayflies USA turned to Kevin Cleversley (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Spiritualized) at Chicago's Playground Studios to capture the live sound of the band and the organic feel of their late 60's, early 70's rock influences. Building on their previous Yep Roc releases-- Summertown (1999) and The Pity List. (2000)-- Walking In A Straight Line showcases The Mayflies USA in their most unadorned rough-hewn state to date, without sacrificing the trademark hooks and harmonies that have drawn comparisons to the likes of Big Star, Badfinger, and Teenage Fanclub among others. They were even once dubbed 'the Replacements of pop' a title they seem destined to acheive with this release. The Mayflies USA will be touring nationally through the summer leading up to and immediately following the street date and into the fall.
